Got hair? Then you’re not getting in.
A one-of-a-kind screening of Yorgos Lanthimos’ upcoming film
Bugonia, starring Emma Stone, is happening in Los Angeles this
Monday—and there's a strict dress code: bald heads only. Attendees must either
show up bald or get their heads shaved on-site in order to be admitted. The
bold requirement is meant to match Stone’s character in the film, who appears
with a shaved head.
Details were posted on DoLA’s official Instagram, stating:
“Got hair? A barber will be on-site starting at 6 p.m. to shave it all off.
Screening starts at 8 p.m. This is real. And yes, part of it will be filmed.”
The event takes place at the Culver Theater and is
RSVP-only, with limited tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis.
It’s open to guests 18 and older.
Bugonia marks Emma Stone’s fourth collaboration with
Oscar-nominated director Yorgos Lanthimos, following The Favourite
(2018), Poor Things (2023), and Kinds of Kindness (2024). In this
new sci-fi thriller, Stone plays a high-powered CEO who is abducted and accused
of being an alien. The cast also includes Jesse Plemons, Aidan Delbis, Stavros
Halkias, and Alicia Silverstone.
Earlier this year, Stone spoke with Vogue about the
emotional weight of shaving her head for the role. While she described it as
“the best feeling in the world,” she also admitted breaking down in tears
beforehand, recalling her mother Krista Stone, who had shaved her head during
treatment for breast cancer.
