NBC is giving fans a magical early treat with Wicked: One Wonderful Night, a primetime musical event airing on November 6 — just 15 days before the premiere of Wicked: For Good from Universal Pictures.
This two-hour television special features powerhouse
performances from Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, joined by an all-star cast
including Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, and Marissa
Bode. Also making appearances are film director Jon M. Chu and legendary
composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz.
According to NBC, the special will include fresh musical
arrangements, exclusive cast interviews, behind-the-scenes content, special
surprises, and quite possibly a sneak peek at what's coming next in the world
of Oz. (Let’s be real — that sneak peek seems like a sure thing.)
Already filmed at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles,
the venue was transformed into a stunning, Emerald City-inspired set for the
event. A live 37-piece orchestra, led by award-winning musical director Stephen
Oremus, brings the score to life, while choreographer Christopher Scott (of Wicked
and Wicked: For Good) handles the dance sequences. The upcoming film
will also feature two brand-new songs by Stephen Schwartz.
